British Values

  • Democracy – democracy is when a group or people, eg. a country or government, all make decisions based on votes from everybody allowed to vote. An example is the UK’s population voting for the party they support.
  • The rule of law – the idea that all people and groups are liable to the laws of their country and will be protected by them but also enforced onto them if necessary.
  • Individual liberty – the free exercise of rights for those who are entitled to them
  • Mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith – an equal amount of respect given and received with others. For example, not being racist, prejudice etc
